About Fifa 15 (Mobile) Coins

This year, the mobile version of the football series, FIFA 15 Ultimate Team, will feature only two modes, since based on EA's past experiences, these are the modes that mostly get player engagement. If you can remember, last year's FIFA 14 became a freemium, which was a first for the FIFA series. Switching EA's attention to only two modes - Matches of the Week and Ultimate Team - was due to the reason that these are the only modes where there was visible increase in engagement.

If you were wondering what's up with the change to a new subtitle, it was because EA has decided to center their attention on two of those modes only for FIFA 15 Ultimate Team.

According to Lucian Cotreanti, senior product manager, "One of the things [free-to-play] has brought to the table is a huge install base for the game on all mobile platforms. That has enabled us to have this huge panel of users to be looking at in terms of what they're playing, how they're engaging with the game, taking a lot of feedback from customer satisfaction surveys, and things like that, in order to give us better perspective for where we should be taking the franchise on mobile platforms going forward.

"The decision that we've made for the game based on that is we're going to strip down all the other game modes in order to be able to concentrate our development capacity into making those two game modes the best experiences possible for mobile devices."

Also Cotreanti says that complementary exercises are mainly consist of other modes from FIFA 14 which was compressed into the Ultimate Team and Matches of the Week. One example is the replacement of Tournaments with Seasons in Ultimate Team, and Kick-off which is a replacement for Quick Match. What sets the two apart, though, is instead of using real teams, a player's own Ultimate Team will be used.

In addition, Manager from FIFA 14 is replaced by a Quick Simulation mode in Ultimate Team. It is more of an involved effort, where players can not only watch a match, but also make decisions and changes to a team's tactics if needed.

According to Cotreanti, "This game mode is adding a whole new level of authenticity to the game. Since it's no longer relevant how good you are at moving your figures on the screen, the outcome of a match is purely based on how good you are at making decisions, how good you are at putting together a squad, how good you are at building chemistry between your players. All those things come together as the match is being simulated."

No further word yet though on how long these changes will be in place. We can only speculate if it will still be present in FIFA 16, of which rumors are now being heard throughout the FIFA fandom.
